This WOW Cooking Guide will take you through the basics of leveling from level 1 to  450 in the Cooking profession, which is a secondary one on World of Warcraft, and new players often dismiss it as unimportant. However, cooking does more than just provide you with health-replenishing food for your character to eat. Some items you can cook give you important buffs, like increased stamina, intellect, agility, or even mana regeneration. These pluses all come from the Well Fed buff, which varies depending on which recipe you cook.

Some players consider fishing to be the best way to level your cooking skill. The only problem with this is that most of the fishing recipes must be bought from vendors. You also have to travel all over the map and hit up vendors everywhere to buy the fishing recipes. It works well if you have a route planned out, but you might find it easier to level your cooking while you level your character. Most of the time, you’ll be the right areas to find the ingredients you need for the recipes you have available to you. Just remember to keep your eyes open for meat and recipes, and don’t forget to keep visiting your cooking trainer to learn more recipes.

WOW Cooking Guide – Apprentice Cooking

Start by learning Apprentice Cooking from your trainer. You’ll find a cooking trainer in any of the starting areas or the capital cities. You might have to ask a guard to find out exactly where the trainer is. Then the first 50 or 75 levels of the cooking skill are easy. Just turn to the cooking supply vendor next to the cooking trainer and by ingredients to make Spice Bread.

• Levels 1 – 50: Spice Bread

WOW Cooking Guide – Journeyman Cooking

When you reach cooking level 50, go back to the trainer and learn Journeyman Cooking. You’ll also pick up some new recipes at this time.

• Levels 50 – 60: Roasted Boar Meat, Charred Wolf Meat
• Levels 60 – 125: Boiled Clams, Cooked Crab Claw, Crab Cake

WOW Cooking Guide – Expert Cooking

It’s time to go back to your cooking trainer to learn Expert Cooking when you reach anywhere between cooking levels 125 and 150.

• Levels 125 – 175: Cooked Crab Claw, Crab Cake, Curiously Tasty Omelet
• Levels 175 – 200: Roast Raptor

WOW Cooking Guide – Artisan Cooking

When your character reaches cooking level 200, head back to the trainer to learn Artisan Cooking and all new available recipes.

• Levels 200 – 285: Roast Raptor, Monster Omelet, Juicy Bear
• Levels 285 – 300: Any recipes available from the cooking trainer in Gadgetzan. All ingredients drop from creatures outside Gadgetzan.

WOW Cooking Guide – Master Cooking

When your character reaches cooking level 300, visit the Master Cooking Trainer in the Outlands.

• Levels 300 – 325: Buzzard Bites (You get this recipe from an NPC at the Zeppelin Crash in the Outlands)
• Levels 325 – 355: Talbuk Steak, Roasted Clefthoof (Ingredients for both of these can be found in Nagrand.)
• Levels 355 – 375: Mok’nathal Shortribs, Crunchy Serpent (Alliance players buy these recipes from a vendor in Blade’s Edge Mountains. Horde Players do a quest for these in the same location.)

WOW Cooking Guide – Grand Master Cooking

• Levels 375 – 400: Kungaloosh, Rhino Dogs, Worm Meat, Fangtooth Herring
• Levels 400 – 450: Buy the rest of your recipes with Dalaran Cooking Awards, earned by doing the daily cooking quest in Dalaran.
