The warlock is like the evil mage. Only blood elves, gnomes, humans, orcs, and the undead can choose to be a warlock. The warlock class is magic reliant and like other casters, it has very weak combat abilities. Warlocks have low armor class. They can’t wear any armor but cloth, and like other casters, the warlock may only use daggers, staves, swords and wands as weapons

The warlock deals with demonic spells and rituals. He can afflict upon his enemies different curses and diseases, weakening and damaging his opponents. He also has the unique ability to summon demons to aid him in battle. These demons include the imp, voidwalker, succubus, felhunter, infernal, doomguard, and felguard. Another unique warlock ability is to convert health into mana, helping them maintain their attack strength during battle.

As opposed to the mage, the warlocks’ spells deal damage over time. Additions such as Healthstonesm, Soulstones (anti-wipe measure) and pet raid-buffs make the warlock a very valuable to a group. When you are playing a warlock, you will be expected to keep debuffs activated on your enemies, weakening them and damaging them over time.

- The warlock has great Survivability. He can recover his health fast using Drain Life, Siphon Life, and many other optional abilities.

- ‘Free’ Normal and Epic ground mounts that the warlock can trainer at his Warlock Trainer.

- Using Lifetap, which is their HP to Mana spell, the warlock can recover mana quickly, keeping his attack power.

- The Warlocks many pets are helpful to him in many ways and in various situations, such as CC, Tanking, Buffing, and Counterspelling.

- Having multiple Warlocks in a group is not very helpful since DoT (damage over time) spells aren’t as powerful when increased in numbers.

Wow Warlock guide – Using the Warlock

From level 1, you will have direct-damage attacks, DoT spells, and a couple of utility and summoning spells. Your direct damage spells will be one of your primary sources of damage throughout the game. Spells like Shadow Bolt, Soul Fire, Incinerate and Chaos Bolt (if you choose to spec for it).

DoT spells are what makes a warlock unique, and you begin the game one: Curse of Agony. When your character starts growing, you will get other DoT spells and Debuffs such as Curse of Weakness, Corruption, Siphon Life, Unstable Affliction, and so on. DoT spells can be combined with direct hit spells to inflict massive damage on your enemies. Add debuffs and a demon to the combination, and you have got one hell of a strong attacking character.

As you probably already figured out, a Warlock requires Mana, and lots of it. That is where utility spells come into the picture. With Lifetap you will be recovering the Mana you spend damaging and debuffing your enemy. Being in a group with a healer can be extremely helpful to a mage, since the healer helps you recover the health you lose when using Lifetap. As long as you have a healing source, and you will, especially if you spec into Affliction, you can keep on casting.
